Foundations of Herbalism Professional Herbalism Course - Air Module
Our Professional Herbalism Classes through the Mid-Atlantic School of Herbalism at Smile can be taken as a continuous year-long course leading on to the second year of the Professional Herbalism course or taken separately as a one day or weekend course for Continuing Education credit (AHG) or simply for interest’s sake.

Monthly Mushroom & Plant ID Walk
Join Jared, acupuncturist and nature enthusiast, for an engaging and interactive ID walk where we will focus on learning our native mushrooms and native plants! We will start out at Smile and take a wander through our local walking trails and local woods. Come learn about our Natural Neighbors! Please be prepared for a gentle walk through nature, remembering to bring along water, a small collection basket, bug spray, and any other essentials you might need.

WEBINAR: Supporting Skin Health with Herbs & Food

In this class, we will explore many of the avenues that contribute to the health of our skin, and how we can influence the vitality of our skin with foods and herbs. Advanced Medicine Making: Tinctures, Percolations, & Ethyl-Oil Extractions
This is a class for students who already have some medicine making experience. We will learn advanced medicine making techniques, including herbal tinctures, liquid extracts using a percolation cone, and ethyl-oil extractions. Everyone will get to take home a sample tincture made during class.

Therapeutic Uses of Essential Oils
In this 2-day class, learn an expansive approach to health and wellness and develop a much deeper connection with Aromatherapy through understanding how to utilize essential oils at home and/or professionally. This course will cover 21 exciting essential oils used to discover how to maintain your health, treat acute and chronic pain, and reduce stress through the proficient use of powerful essential oils. This class is for anyone wanting to use essential oils at home or in their communities, especially those wanting to start their own aromatherapy or bath and body care business!

Herbal First Aid Boot Camp
This Herbal First Aid ‘Boot Camp’ is not for mere scrapes and bruises. Claudia Joy Wingo, MPH, RN & Clinical Herbalist will share information and resources based on her 40 years of experiences in both the field of herbal first aid and working in a resource poor environment in Central & Tropical Australia, Papua New Guinea & Bangladesh. This all-day course will include the essentials of remote first aid care as well as herbal medicine to use in emergency situations for bleeding, wound care, snake and spider bites, shock, altitude sickness, frostbite, fevers, infections, splinting/bandaging, and methods for moving or carrying the injured. This is a ‘hands on’ course so come ready to get your hands dirty!

Free Reiki Share for Reiki Practitioners
Smile Herb Shop is now holding Reiki Shares for Reiki Practitioners on the 1st Tuesday of every month. If you are a Usui Reiki Practitioner, this event is open for you to come together in community for practice and for the self-care that healers often forgo receiving. A wise healer is one who receives as well as gives. *Pre-Requisite: If you have not received Reiki training from Olivia MacMillan, please be sure to bring your Usui Reiki certificate to show the facilitator. This is for Reiki Practitioners only. Donations will be accepted on behalf of Smile Herb Shop for the space.

Join herbalist Betsy Miller to learn how to make your own herbal vinegars, including fire cider and strawberry rose shrubs, as well as herbal cordials with elderberries and fruits.
