Foundations of Herbalism Professional Herbalism Course - Earth & Water Module
Our Professional Herbalism Classes through the Mid-Atlantic School of Herbalism at Smile can be taken as a continuous year-long course leading on to the second year of the Professional Herbalism course or taken separately as a one day or weekend course for Continuing Education credit (AHG) or simply for interest’s sake.

West African Drumming
Discover the drumming tradition of the Ashanti people of Ghana. Join Kofi Nana Frimpong, a renowned dummer with over 25 years of experience, for a journey into the healing modality of dynamic rhythm. Nana will teach drumming skills, African history and story, African instruments, and meditations for healing the mind and body through drumming. Students will be guided in a coordinated drum circle and learn the skills to drum well and have fun while doing it. No experience necessary. We will provide drums, but feel free to bring your own if you have them!

Foundations of Herbalism - The Female Reproductive System
This weekend it’s all about women so join us for a 2 day workshop on womens issues. The Female Reproductive System is complex with many feedback mechanisms involving the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, ovaries, endometrium and the adrenal glands. We’ll explore this dance of the hormones and herbs to keep the system well regulated.

Wire-Wrapping Crystals for Beginners
Discover simple jewelry making techniques in this hands-on Crystal Wrapping 101 Class using copper and crystals. Learn a few common and not so common known benefits of copper, the metaphysical properties of certain crystals, and what happens when the two are combined and are worn on the body. Techniques for making a pendant or ring will be shared. All materials will be provided to create your jewelry from our crystal selection or you may bring your own!

Join teaching artist Bonnie Parry on a journey of healing through the self-discovery and mindfulness of the ancient art of Mandala. Mandalas have been used for centuries as a tool for gaining wisdom and compassion. When applying Mandala creation on a personal level profound healing can often be the joyous result! All supplies are included and no experience is necessary.

WEBINAR: Pain Management: Herbal & Nutritional Strategies
Chronic pain can be a life-altering and debilitating experience, and many of the over-the-counter and pharmaceutical pain medications available have serious long-term complications. Come learn about nutritional, lifestyle and herbal strategies for managing various types of chronic pain, including headaches, nerve pain and musculoskeletal pain. We will also discuss which herbs are safe to combine with allopathic pain medications, and which could possibly interact.

Self-Healing Through Art
Art is a powerful healing modality. Join Teaching Artist Bonnie Parry and explore the process of art making to awaken your innate healing abilities. Topics covered will include: overcoming common blockages to creativity, how art can help express thoughts, feelings and emotions, and the freedom that comes from creative expression. A variety of painting and collage activities will be explored. No artistic experience necessary. All supplies included in the price of the class.

Join Olivia MacMillan, Registered Aromatherapist, as she guides you through all the need-to-knows about using essential oils to heal the body, mind, and spirit. This class will cover where essential oils come from, how they are made, and the profiles of 8 of the most versatile, important, and economical essential oils as well as how essential oils are best used and why, essential oil safety, dos & don’ts, and easy recipes! Don't forget to bring your questions as the last 20 minutes of the class will be Q&A with Olivia with on-the-spot recipes offered based on your need.

Introduction to Medicinal Food
Betsy Miller, Clinical Herbalist, is of the firm opinion that not all medicinal herbs have to taste gross! This class is based on that premise- learning how to make herbs delicious and enjoyable to take (because herbs really only work when we're willing to take them!). Students will taste, make and discuss recipes for incorporating therapeutic amounts of medicinal herbs into such yummy concoctions as chocolates, soups, baked treats and beverages.

WEBINAR: Lymph Language: Herbal Support for Our Lymphatic System
Our lymphatic system is one of the most important (and overlooked) systems of the human body; like the circulatory system, it connects every cell and tissue in our body into a cohesive whole, and is responsible for maintaining the health and functioning of all our other body systems. Our lymph, however, cannot move without our help. This class will discuss signs and symptoms of lymphatic sluggishness, and how to use herbs, foods and movement to promote the health of our many lymphatic vessels.
