West African Drumming
Discover the drumming tradition of the Ashanti people of Ghana. Join Kofi Nana Frimpong, a renowned drummer with over 25 years of experience, for a journey into the healing modality of dynamic rhythm. Nana will teach drumming skills, African history and story, African instruments, and meditations for healing the mind and body through drumming. Students will be guided in a coordinated drum circle and learn the skills to drum well and have fun while doing it. No experience necessary. We will provide drums, but feel free to bring your own if you have them!

Yoga for Back Care
A healthy spine and a healthy nervous system are crucial for maintaining optimal whole-body health. Our new Yoga for Back Care class combines both! This class blends gentle and soothing back exercises with easy and simple core strengthening routines. Its a great class for athletes, seniors, mothers of young children, and anyone who experiences back issues as well as anyone carrying toxic levels of stress. Return to graceful and pain-free movement and see the dramatic improvement in not just overall well-being, but a reduction in tension and stress.

This fun, high-energy class incorporates yoga, boxing, dancing, Pilates, weight training and meditation for a full-body workout. This class is designed for people who have been sedentary and are looking to making a positive change to their health and fitness throughout the year.

Undo Stress Yoga Class
Working at a desk all day? Sitting in a chair studying for hours? Always on the go without taking a moment to breathe deep or practice self-care? Come and take time for yourself on the mat during this gentle and mindful Hatha yoga class. Steadily build strength while connecting the mind, body, and breath. Everyone from beginners to intermediate practitioners will enjoy this class.

Traditional Hatha Yoga
This class will incorporate all the traditional methods used by yogis to achieve single-minded focus. Class will consist of mantra chanting*, pranayama, sun salutations. Additionally, asanas will be carefully selected to improve your postural alignment, digestive functioning, mental conditioning to reduce anxiety and or depression. Some experience in yoga will be helpful. Please be assured that *mantra chanting is not religious in nature yet it is intended to creates spiritual vibrational sounds.

Monthly Plant & Mushroom ID Walk
Join Jared, acupuncturist and naturalist, for an engaging and interactive ID (identification) walk where we will focus on learning our native mushrooms and native plants! We will start out at Smile and take a wander through our local walking trails and local woods. Come learn about our Natural Neighbors! Please be prepared for a gentle walk through nature, remembering to bring along water, a small collection basket, bug spray, and any other essentials you might need.

Webinar: Energetics of Western Herbalism
All traditional systems of healing have a system at their core for how to understand plants and assess people based on what we call energetics & constitution. The concept of Energetics within the context of Traditional Western Herbalism provides a framework for understanding how imbalance/illness may manifest within certain patterns of hot, cold, damp, or dry, and how to understand the actions of herbs within those patterns in the human body. In this class, clinical herbalist Betsy Miller will teach about how to recognize energetic patterns in people, and how to discover the tastes and energetics of plants as a way to fit the right herb to the person to optimize their health and wellness.

Chinese Medicine: In Depth With The Five-Element Model
Chinese medicine is a system that is both scientific and poetic, both practical and metaphorical. The vital organs of the body manifest not only as bodily organs, but also as our emotions, as energetic meridians on the body, as disease in different parts of the body, and as varied aspects of a persons soul and development through life. Come learn how the Chinese system of healing intertwines our individual health and wellbeing with the map of Nature and its elemental energies. This class is for overall beginners, as well as for practitioners of western herbs who want to expand their understanding into the Chinese system. We will explore the basic aspects of this medicine (especially the emotional components of disease), we will learn essential diagnosis skills, and will learn how that diagnosis can inform the selection of individual herbs and crafting basic herbal formulas. The use of Moxa (burning mugwort as heat medicine) will be taught, and students will walk away with moxa ready to use.

Medicine-Making Class: Herbal Vinegars, Cordials, & Cocktails
Herbal cordials and vinegar extraction have a long and rich history of practice across many traditions of herbal medicine, and are delicious ways to incorporate more of the healing magic of plants into your diet on a regular basis. Join herbalist Betsy Miller to learn how to make your own herbal vinegars, including fire cider and strawberry rose shrubs, as well as herbal cordials with elderberries and fruits. We will also learn how to use our vinegars, as well as other ingredients such as syrups and bitters, to craft delicious and healthful herbal cocktails (yes, cocktails can be medicine too!). This class is interactive, with tasting, blending and potion making! All supplies included!

Energetics & the Soul of Essential Oils
Learn a heart-centered, expansive approach to using the energetic properties of essential oils to influence the healing and balance of the mind, body, and heart connection. Explore using your new-found knowledge to create deeply personal blends for use with loved ones or professionally with in-class practice. Students will hand-craft an Anointing oil, Purifying Bath salt, Aromatherapy Inhaler, and an additional blend based on your needs. Discover chakras (the energy centers of the body), different personal techniques for choosing essential oils for energetic blends, using essential oils to shift vibrational patterns, meditations on the energetic properties of essential oils, diagnosing energetic imbalances, and more! Students will discover chakras, learn the vibrational and energetic properties of essential oil, experience an essential oil meditation, diagnose energetic imbalances and craft deeply personal blends for individual healing. Students will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the class.

Crystal Wire-Wrapping 101 Workshop
Discover simple jewelry making techniques in this hands-on Crystal Wrapping 101 Class using copper and crystals. Learn a few common and not so common known benefits of copper, the metaphysical properties of certain crystals, and what happens when the two are combined and are worn on the body. Techniques for making a pendant or ring will be shared. All materials will be provided to create your jewelry from our crystal selection or you may bring your own!

Have you ever wanted to learn how to make folk medicines like balms to help heal the skin and soothe sore muscles, or create your own elegant creams to support and nourish a glowing complexion? This is a class for you! Learn how to infuse wonder, intention and medicinal herbs into hand crafted skincare products for the whole family. Each student will leave with a jar of salve & cream (created in class), as well as a few recipes to try on their own. Can't wait to create with you!
