Oatstraw is, as its name suggests, the above ground parts of the oat plant. Oats are one of the plants that humans have eaten since prehistoric times. Rich in minerals, oatstraw can be used in a cold or hot infusion to increase the nutrient profile of a tea. The herb is nutritive and soothing to itchy, flaky skin and is used in baths, lotions and skin washes.* It also makes a comforting herbal tea. Oatstraw can be added to a bath or made into a poultice by soaking a cloth in the herbal infusion. To make a relaxing tea, combine with lemon balm, nettles, skullcap, chamomile or passion flower.
